Chuck Edwards
I was born at a very young age in the Hills of East Tennessee, then we all loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly… I mean to Memphis, Tennessee, Dallas, Texas and finally the Motor City.
I have so much in common with our 99.5 WYCD family of listeners. They believe in hard work and I enjoy watching people work hard. I like to think of myself as the foreman of Brighton compound, well actually, my wife Suzanne is the plant manager… she’s wife, mother and full-time student studying psychology (insert joke here). Our six children range in age from 13 to 23 and are involved in the usual activities, dance, girl scouts, golf, gymnastics and of course stubbornness.
One of the greatest challenges of my life began just over 6 years ago when Suzanne and I became partners in life and overseeing a large blended family. I especially enjoy hearing from folks who pick up on what Linda and I talk about, and respond with their own take about family joys and dilemmas. There is no manual with a blended family, however faith and dedication are musts. When I’m not shepherding the flock, I enjoy playing golf, coaching my daughters various athletic teams, and participating in projects with my church.
I’ve received overwhelming joy in working with St. Jude and Special Olympics this past year. It’s also very exhilarating to be part of Country Music. In that after 22 years in country radio, I still get a charge out of visiting with all the stars like Garth, Lonestar, Reba and many others, and while we’re on the subject of food, Didn’t I hear something about food? I love Suzanne’s Mexican dishes; to bad I can't email you some!
Last summer we welcomed a new member to our family and no one had to go through Lamaze… He’s Dakota, a Yorkshire Terrier. He enjoys yapping and humping small toys. Oh, let’s not forget Gizmo, the narcoleptic Shitzu… no longer welcome on Linda’s berber carpet without Depends!! And, even though Linda would rather be with Regis, I look forward to the fun we have everyday. Contrary to what you might think, Linda and I have a lot in common, even though Linda parties at the Casino and I party at the Cracker Barrel.
