Jason the 300lb Cowboy
Jason Raithel, who prefers to be called “Jason, the 300 Pound Cowboy,” is the show’s resident stunt boy and native Detroiter. Jason’s gone down ski slopes in only his underwear. He’s covered himself in birdseed and let seagulls eat off of him at the beach. He’s even stood in traffic wearing nothing but a Speedo after losing a bet. Jason’s a walking Detroit sports encyclopedia, who knows every trivial thing about every player in every local professional sport.
But there’s more to Jason than whipping concert crowds into a frenzy or sitting in a dunk tank for hours on end. He’s heavily involved (no pun intended) in the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Michigan Humane Society, Police and Firefighter charities and various Veteran Groups around the Motor City. Jason’s interest in the latter springs from his brother, Jeff, a Marine who served in Iraq and is a proud new father. Jason also participates in the AIDS walk every year and reads to area school kids as part of March is Reading Month activities.
He also holds a very high score in the World of Warcraft video game, but that’s something that only impresses other gamers and his dog, Harvey Dent.
